Consumer Economics

This course is designed to give students practical knowledge of personal economics that all citizens must deal with on a day-to-day basis. It is intended to provide them with the skills needed to be more informed and effective consumers as they prepare to enter the marketplace. Topics covered include banking, 储蓄, investments, 税, Identity theft, consumer debt, higher education student loans, insurance, and credit. The course satisfies the consumer education requirement.

Accounting

(Grade 11-12)

Accounting provides the student with the opportunity to develop a working knowledge of basic accounting theory and principles. The class work integrates computer input of accounting information. The course is both college preparatory and vocational in nature. It provides a foundation on which students can build when taking college accounting courses.

业务 Law presents an introduction to law structure and fundamentals of rights, responsibilities, and risks students will encounter. The course will include a brief presentation of criminal and civil proceedings. It will also cover contractual obligations arising from sales, insurance, bailment, etc. This course is designed to show how laws are positive in nature rather than negative.

Marketing

Marketing is a one semester course that is designed to introduce students to the marketing activities that provide products and service for the satisfaction of consumer needs and wants. Areas covered will include product planning and production, distribution functions and institutions, purchasing and pricing, and promotion. Emphasis is placed on understanding of the entire marketing process and its relation to our free enterprise system.

This course is the study of the structures and practices of business organizations operating under free enterprise economy. Topics include entrepreneurship, organizational teamwork, human resources, and leadership styles. This course covers a broad range of foundational topics such as ideation, market research, business models and startups.

Sangamon CEO (Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities)

PREREQUISITES: GPA of 2.5 or higher; teacher/counselor recommendations; application; interview with selection committee

This year long business class creates a real-world learning laboratory for high school seniors to learn about all aspects of business including developing a business plan, executing the plan, and learning from outcomes. 学生 will have the opportunity to hear from business leaders in the Central Illinois area, have a personally assigned mentor, develop their speaking and networking skills through the Toastmasters International program, and interact with students from other high schools. The actual class takes place in rotating locations in Springfield so students must be able to arrange for transportation. May be used for .5 fine arts credit.
